Congratulations to Jerry Meier of Aggregate Industries, WCR (retired) on his election to the Colorado Asphalt Hall of Fame. Jerry spent nearly 50 years in the industry and spent time with Siegrist Companies, 25 years with Western Paving Company, and his last 21 years with Bituminous Roadways/CAMAS/Aggregate Industries WCR.
Jerry worked on all size projects from small parking lots to major projects like DIA, I70 and I-25 from Fort Collins to Pueblo and from the Continental Divide to Limon. He was always proud of the work being done by the people he supervised and worked with. He was the driving force behind the companies he worked for receiving many “Best in Colorado” asphalt paving awards. Jerry was known to say “Quality work is what people expect, it is our obligation to provide at least the quality they expect.” He demanded more than just quality, he demanded superior quality. The clients who he had the privilege to work with include almost every Front Range city and county, all of the metro area airports, CDOT, and military installations. Jerry oversaw the extension to the north runway at Stapleton Airport, so it could become an international airport.
Kevin Anderson of Connell Resources, John Cheever of Aggregate Industries WCR, and John Wanigman of Greenwood Village provided testimony to the nomination that was approved unanimously by the CAPA Board of Directors. In his acceptance speech, Jerry thanked those he worked with and mentioned that “he had a wonderful career and has had a wonderful life.” Welcome to the Colorado Asphalt Hall of Fame Jerry! Well deserved.
